World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest Confronted Drew McIntyreMcIntyre setting his sights back on the World Heavyweight Championship this soon is an interesting development. I thought this might happen a little closer to Clash at the Castle considering it's in McIntyre's home country of Scotland, but it looks like they're going to this match for King and Queen of the Ring. Plus, whatever happened to what was being teased with McIntyre and Sheamus? This was a solid segment with good mic work from both men.
Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli and Bryan Danielson) def. Top FlightWas this a random match? Yes. Do I care that it was random? No. They had a hell of a match and the crowd was hot for the action. I get the feeling Danielson wants to work with as many different people as possible before his full-time career is over, so I'm certainly not complaining. Danielson explained afterward that last year's Anarchy in the Arena almost ended his career but that he's choosing to participate this year because he loves AEW.
Wendy Choo def. Wren SinclairChoo's last televised match was almost exactly a year ago as she's been out injured this whole time. Unfortunately, she's still doing the stupid sleepy character. I know she's a fan favorite with this Performance Center crowd and they welcomed her back with open arms, but it's one of those terrible holdover gimmicks from the NXT 2.0 days that shouldn't have a place in the current NXT. That's nothing against Choo as a competitor, though, because she's actually quite talented. This was a basic bout, but I assume that was the point as Choo looks to work off ring rust.
